You grew up in Essex. When did you move to London?

My grandparents lived in London when I was young, so we came to London every week to see them. I then moved to Highgate in 2003.

How did you find it?

It’s a huge city, so it can be lonely at times. But there is so much to explore and experience. Even now, after being in London for 15 years, I’m still discovering new things.

Where do you live now?

Fulham. Everyone knows each other, everyone looks out for each other – it has a real village feel to it. The whole of Fulham seems to come together in a pub called The Brown Cow. We all take our dogs there and everyone brings their children. You go for one gin and tonic and end up staying for hours talking to so many different people. It has such a lovely atmosphere and the food is incredible.

Why is London such a famous fashion city?

Because of the history. London has started so many fashion trends and has produced so many musicians and movie stars with personal iconic style. And when you have Savile Row in your city, you could argue that London started the art of suits and tailoring.

Who’s your tailor?

Thom Sweeney and Henry Poole for bespoke and M&S for off-the-peg.

You own a majority stake in shoe company David Preston. What is the quintessential London shoe?

I think it has to be the Chelsea boot – it’s so versatile and it's been worn by some of the most stylish people in history.

You are an ambassador for the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. Do you think London is a good city for dogs?

It’s one of the best cities for dogs. London is full of parks and walks, and whatever dog you have, they should be around grass and trees and nature as much as possible. I have a mongrel from Battersea Dogs Home called Dora. Every Sunday I grab a coffee and we go to Richmond Park and spend quite a few hours exploring and looking at the gorgeous herds of deer.

MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT. BUT THERE IS SO MUCH TO EXPERIENCE HERE. I’M STILL DISCOVERING NEW THINGS

You have qualified for your racing car licence. Is there a car that you particularly associate with London?

It has to be the Mini or the Jaguar E-Type. Both are iconic designs that astounded the world and are still going strong today in modern interpretations.

Where is London’s most glamorous venue for a party?

The Royal Albert Hall. It is my favourite place for concerts and events. The London Fashion Awards have just moved to be hosted there and it adds such prestige to the evening. Walking the red carpet up the stairs is such an incredible experience.

Where is your favourite place to eat in London?

Jason Atherton’s Japanese restaurant Sosharu.

What is your favourite view in London?

Waterlow Park in Highgate, looking over the whole city.

Do you have a favourite building in London?

Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

Who is your favourite Londoner?

Winston Churchill.
